Man Tased in Salt Lake City after running into traffic

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, July 3, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A man was Tased Sunday evening in Salt Lake City after police said he ran into traffic, nearly causing several accidents.

The incident occurred in the area of 504 S. West Temple St. just before 6 p.m., the Salt Lake City Police Department said in a news release.

“Officers responded on a report of an aggressive panhandler trespassing at the Chevron,” the news release said.

When they contacted the suspect, Jeremiah Turley, 39, he fled, running into traffic on 500 South and nearly causing several accidents, officials said.

“Officers believed he posed a significant threat to himself and others and deployed a Taser to stop him,” the news release goes on. “Turley was taken into custody, examined and cleared by medical and booked for fleeing, trespass, false information and warrants.”
